Coordinating Communication Access Services for You
Today’s technology has created a variety of ways to change the spoken language into words on a computer or projection screen. Speech-to-text technologies—on-site or remote— provide communication access in classes and meetings for people who cannot otherwise hear and understand spoken language.
Sign language interpreting, in a variety of forms, may be the right option, depending on the situations and the needs of the disabled person.
We coordinate the delivery of timely, efficient and cost-effective communication access services, whether you need speech-to-text, sign language interpreting or online/remote support
Speech-to-Text Services: On-site & Remote Options
Speech-to-text services convert the spoken word to written for people who cannot hear or process speech directly. Call us to find out more about options for these services delivered at your site or remotely:
- TypeWell Transcription improves communication for disabled people in classrooms and meeting settings by converting speech to text in real time using a special kind of software, not verbatim, but, rather, meaning for meaning (similar to sign language interpreting).
- C.A.R.T.(Communication Access Real Time) uses a court reporting machine to input spoken text, which is then fed to a computer that produces a text document. The text can be displayed on a computer monitor or projected onto a screen for multiple users.
- C-Print helps improve the classroom experience for communication challenged students in mainstreamed educational settings with a computer-aided speech-to-text transcription system. A captionist types the teacher’s lecture, which is then displayed on the student’s laptop computer or a television monitor.
- DVD, Video and Web Captioning [Chanel, short description of this service? Not sure I understand it]
Sign Language Interpreting Options
Sometimes you need on-site interpreting services in real time. Our certified and highly qualified interpreters help communication-disabled students and employees participate fully in meetings and school classes, helping to reduce the barriers for everyone involved in the process.
Call us to find out which option is best for you:
- ASL (American Sign Language), a visual system of interpretation used by many deaf and hard-of-hearing people
- PSE (Pidgin Sign English), an abbreviated form of interpretation which is a combination of ASL signing and English grammar.
- Tactile Interpreting, a method using ASL signs or finger-spelling on the hand or hands of the deaf person.
- Oral Interpreting, a method that works well for people who rely primarily on lip-reading, where the interpreter clearly articulates what is being said with their mouth.
